We are incredibly proud to announce that the new book ‘Vogels van Curaçao’ (Birds of Curaçao – in Dutch), has been delivered by the printer. A large part of this edition is going off to Curaçao by boat and a limited amount is now available in the Netherlands.

  • 300 sponsored books for educational institutions on their way to Curaçao
  • Books for sale on their way to Curaçao
  • Limited number now available in the Netherlands

We are very happy and very proud to share the news that the brand new book ‘Birds of Curaçao’ (the Dutch edition) by authors Michelle Pors-da Costa Gomez and Leon Pors has recently been delivered by printer RAD Dordrecht. The book has 312 pages and contains more than 450 color photos of birds living and migrating on Curacao made by the authors and by the photographers Henny Klein Klouwenberg, Rob Wellens, Hubert de Palm, Job Stumpel, Carel de Haseth, Judith Schnog, and the late Anita de Moulin. The foreword to the book was written by biologist and nature lover Gerard van Buurt.

100+ sponsors through crowdfunding for educational institutions
Thanks to the financial support of more than 100 sponsors, the costs for 300 copies of this first edition have been covered, copies that will be distributed free of charge to educational institutions in Curaçao. We once again would like to express a big word of thanks to everyone who contributed to this fantastic result. It’s still an unreal feeling to get support from so many people. A big word of thanks also goes to the Stichting Curaçao Style and the Fonds Ars Antilliani. Without their tremendous contribution to this project, this would not have come true.

The transport of the 300 sponsored books and the books that will go on sale on the island is being arranged as you read this. The transport company has collected the books from the printer and we will quickly gain insight into the date on which the books actually leave the port of Rotterdam on their way to Curaçao. We sincerely hope that the books will arrive before Christmas and will be cleared through customs so that they will be available for sale at a number of outlets. We will keep you informed, so fingers crossed! However, a book presentation and signing session on the island are no longer possible for us in 2021, so that will be postponed to January 2022. We will keep you informed about that too and also about the distribution of the 300 books to schools, libraries and other educational institutions.
