Free additional pages to ‘Vogels van Curacao’ book

The Red Knot is the first bird featured in the series of updates that can be downloaded on the site.

For everyone who has bought either the first edition or second edition of the ‘Vogels van Curaçao’ book by authors Michelle Pors-da Costa Gomez and Léon Pors, we have wonderful surprise.

As you might know, the bird book, first published in 2021 and with a second edition in 2022, which is available in local book stores Mensing’s Caminada, Bruna as well as the souvenir shop at Landhuis Bloemhof, gives an insight in both the breeding and migratory birds that can be spotted on the island. With 312 pages of pictures and descriptions the book gives a good overview of the species, but choices had to be made with the birds described in full text, as the book was growing very thick during the writing process. That is the reason why all the recorded birds can be seen in the checklist of registered birds in the back of the book, but not all species are represented in the centre of the book.

We are changing that now, by offering everyone who bought the book, updates of bird descriptions of the species not included in the descriptions area of the book, graphically designed in the same way as the book. These updates can be downloaded for free on our website. Readers who want the addition in their book, can print it either in black and white or in full colour themselves as every page indicates where the specific bird species needs to be placed in the book.

The first bird species we include in these free updates is the Red knot, also called Kanoet in Dutch.

The updates are all written in Dutch as the book is also published in Dutch.

Don’t have the bird book yet, check it out at Mensing’s Caminada, Landhuis Bloemhof or Bruna. It will be the perfect present for your nature-loving friends!

If you live in the Netherlands you can contact us through the form on the ‘Contact us’ page to order your copy!
