Every year on February 2nd, the world pauses to reflect on wetlands, (periodically) wet areas of great value to nature and humanity. World Wetlands Day, as it is known, marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on February 2nd, 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the Caspian Sea coast.
