Colorful, endearing and unexpected. Every time we see these great looking Black-bellied whistling ducks on Curacao, we just realize how lucky we are to have so much variety in our bird wildlife. This species has had an exceptionally great breeding year in 2016/2017 and most of the offspring are most probably now in South America. However a small group still stays over, flying from one watery location to the next. These, a group of 40 individuals, are almost all young adults, and we can pretty much conclude that they were born on Curacao.
