Willet – Snepi ala di strepi (Catoptrophorus semipalmatus)
Another visitor from North America, not often seen on the island, is the Willet. This bird is rather large with its 34 to 40 centimeters in length, but will not be noticed easily due to its grayish colors. The bill is about 6 cm long and has a gray-blue color.
These birds can be found along the edges of saliñas and inner bays and on the mudflats behind mangroves. They eat small crustaceans and other invertebrates.
